This got away from me a bit. Skip to the bottom for the short version.

Honestly I only picked Lumen Research Supply because they were cheapest and had a working checkout, which in hindsight is not a great way to choose.

Ordered from Lumen Research Supply twice now. First one was fine, second one took three weeks and nobody answered my emails until I opened a card dispute.

Support at Lumen Research Supply was actually pretty decent when I had a problem, which surprised me given what I’d read.

For what it’s worth the Institute has an Index Score of 89 for them, which is where I started.

Things I still don’t know: whether any of this is batch-specific, whether it holds outside the one case I looked at, and whether I’m reading the numbers right in the first place.

TL;DR: I went looking for a straight answer on Lumen Research Supply and came back with more questions. Details above.

Yes, and the same page has the older cycle for comparison.

What would actually change your mind here? If nothing would, it is not really an evidence question.

We publish failed results the same way we publish passing ones. If a company disputes a finding, that goes on the record too.

Fair enough, I will look at it properly.

Happy to dig up the link if you want it.

If you want to check this yourself, ask the vendor which laboratory issued the certificate, then email that laboratory with the report number. Most will confirm or deny. The ones that go quiet tell you something.

That is the distinction I was trying to make, said better.

Mass spec gives you molecular weight, which confirms identity but says nothing about whether the sequence is correct. Two different peptides can share a mass.

This.

That is a better argument than the one above it.
