AOD-9604: when a compound outlives its failed trials

The obesity program failed in 2007. The marketing never stopped. A case study in zombie evidence.

AOD-9604 is the clearest example in our index of a compound whose commercial life outlasted its evidence: phase 2b obesity trials missed their endpoints, development stopped, and yet the compound is marketed today with claims drawn from the preclinical work its own human trials failed to confirm.

It earns a Limited evidence grade not because data is absent, but because the best available human data is negative — a distinction our evidence taxonomy is designed to surface.
