Understanding peptide reconstitution: concentrations, diluents, and stability windows

The chemistry behind reconstitution choices, and what published stability data actually covers.

Reconstitution converts a lyophilized peptide into solution — and starts a stability clock that varies enormously by compound. This reference covers the chemistry researchers should understand: diluent selection, concentration effects on aggregation, and refrigerated stability windows in the published literature.

Bacteriostatic water’s benzyl-alcohol content suppresses microbial growth but can accelerate degradation of oxidation-sensitive sequences. Sterile water avoids that trade-off at the cost of a much shorter safe-use window. Published stability studies cover only a minority of commonly discussed compounds, which is why our lab program has begun adding time-course retests to selected specimens.
